So domestic

Since my days are quiet and I mostly spend them cleaning, cooking, and trying to be creative, I have become as my sister would say "more domestic".  I carved the top off a white pumpkin we picked from the Gebber patch and filled it with flowers Grandma Virginia (Hawks grandma) gave me. Those flowers are straight from her garden!! Beautiful! Pretty good huh? Ya Martha Stewart. lol

Thanks to a recipe from my sister Jessica, I made a very delicious pot pie from scratch. :) And Grant liked it.

This dessert tier from the wonderful Gabi was filled with cookies I made, but the cookie monster snuck in and ate them all (Austin Porter and Grantland Walker). Baking is fun...but I still can't decide which I like more.

pumpkin greatness

And how could I forget....our masterpiece pumpkin carvings. Thanks to mom, we baked the seeds for a yummy snack afterwards.

Sorry so blurry. Grant did the pumpkin on the top and I did the one on the bottom.

A visit from mom

My mother came to visit! She spent a whole week with me in Brewster. We cooked alot, walked alot, and drove alot. I took her to several of the neighboring towns, including my winery in Chelan. My boss spoiled her by allowing her to buy 2 bottles of our 'sold out' champagne. We even met up with some old family friends who live in Spokane. Thank you mom for all the recipes you shared, getting my out of bed for morning walks through the orchard, and talking to people in our local library.
At the Grand Coulee Dam where we met Rita and Dan Shiner, old friends from Hemet.

We went to a little Bovarian town called Leavenworth. We are driving throuh and mom sees a big horn sheep. Immediately we park and mother runs after it. lol. I love you mom.

climbing mountains

There is so much beautiful land around here. Grant got off early one day so we decided to go driving around, explore, and get lost. We drove across the river towards the orchards across the way. I'm pretty sure Grant's truck got a beating driving through bushes and orchards as we tried to find our way back before the dark and before his truck ran out of gas.
